An important part of PNRA’s mission is supporting the rowing teams that represent the United States on the international stage including the Olympic Games. From the November 21, 2003 grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the Caspersen Training Center expansion through September 1, 2021, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee licensed the Finn M.W. Caspersen Rowing Center as an official Olympic training site.
Through a partnership with USRowing, PNRA provides office space, locker rooms, shower facilities and exclusive boathouse bays for the USRowing’s National Team. Through it’s seven-lane fully buoyed racing course, three-story finish line tower and light start system, PNRA provides a world class rowing course used in selection and training of teams to represent the United States in international competition.
More United States Olympic Rowing Team Trials have been held on Mercer Lake than at any other venue in the country. Since 1988 with the 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020(21) Olympic Trials all being held at the Caspersen Center.
