This was a busy weekend for the Mercer athletes!
On Saturday, the annual Head of the Halloween was held on Mercer Lake. For this event, coaches mix up varsity and novice, boys and girls, and see who can complete an around the lake (ATL) the fastest. The best part: the incredible costumes the athletes raced in! From ninja turtles to leprechauns, identity theft to fairy princesses, we had an incredible array of costumes that could be rowed in.
The results were:
20:40.6 Waters
20:54.9 Wolf
21:05.2 Trat
21:13.4 Joukowsky
21:43.7 Snieckus
22:40.3 Fisher
22:43.2 Weir
22:51.7 Caspersen
23:25.9 Merion

Sunday was an exciting day on the Schuylkill for our top novice boats. This was the first race for most of our athletes, and Mercer’s first time racing novice at the Head of the Schuylkill. Our novice athletes learned about rigging boats, trailer loading, and finding their way through 100s of trailers at the regatta to find ours. There are so many moving parts on regatta day and we can’t thank the parents enough for their patience (and snacks!) during the race.
Our novice boys’ boats raced well and came in 6th (15:32.7) and 30th (17:58.01) out of 55 boats. Our novice girls finished a respectable 4th (17:45.2) and 14th (19:04.4) out of a 30-boat field. All novices are back at practice today to unload the trailer and get back on the water because the Mercer Challenge is Wednesday!
Happy Halloween! GO MERCER!
