Good evening, Mercer Parents!
The first regatta of the season is this weekend! The Head of the Housatonic (www.headofthehousatonic.org) is a Varsity-only regatta scheduled for this Saturday, October 8, in Shelton, Connecticut. The Coaches have already posted the travel roster; stay tuned for final line-ups.
For Parents of Rowers who are Attending:
We are departing from the boathouse after practice on Friday, so PLEASE BRING NEEDED ITEMS to practice that day. Dinner (Friday), breakfast (hotel – Saturday), and lunch (Saturday) will be provided. We encourage athletes to bring some extra snacks, but remember to pack lightly – it’s a tight fit in the travel vans. We will be returning to the boathouse Saturday evening. We will do our best to give you travel updates by blog and/or Facebook page.
Suggested packing list: uni (and other racing gear), rain gear (!!!), hat, toiletries, water bottle, blanket/pillow for ride, change of clothes for after racing, PJ’s, plastic bag for wet/sweaty clothes, extra $$ for t-shirts (optional), extra socks, sunglasses, and (because I am a mom) homework!
Inclement weather: should Hurricane Matthew become a factor, the regatta organizers indicated they will notify competing teams of cancellation by Thursday 12AM. We will let you know – likely by blog – as soon as we know. Fingers crossed!
For Parents who are Watching from Home:
Regatta results were posted last year on www.herenow.com, so, with a little time lag, you can follow along. We will also try to post results on the Facebook page (now is a good time to join, if you haven’t yet).
Thanks to all the parents who offered to help/drive/support etc..
Go, Mercer!
